Dagestan: Police Refusal to Carry out Provisions of the Law Provoke Riots in Makhachkala

In the morning of May 19, 2012 in front of the Kirovskiy district police department of the Republic of Dagestan, Makhachkala more than a hundred 
people, both men and women gathered. There were mostly people who adhere to the Salafi trend in Islam. Their only requirement was to allow lawyer 
for Abdurakhman Magomedov who was arrested on the eve. However, a lawyer Ziyautdin Uvaisov who was invited by the relatives was not allowed to 
the arrested, instead of him another lawyer was involved, who was invited by the police. Also the information spread that Magomedov was 
beaten the police department. During the day many new people came to the police department, the crowd grew, the tension grew. The police still
