Russia Ready to Illegally Extradite Former Guard of Leader of Tajik Opposition to Tajikistan

On November 4, 2010 a citizen of Tajikistan Abdulvosi Latipov, born 1968, was arrested by the Federal Security Service on the extradition request of the authorities of Tajikistan and placed in a detention center № 1 in Volgograd. Latipov worked as a security guard of Hoji Akbar Turajonzoda, a former leader of the United Tajik Opposition, against whom a campaign in the republic is organized. At home Latipov is accused of extortion, kidnapping, banditry, assault on a state or public figure, the damage of state property and terrorism. In the case of extradition, Latipov will face persecution and torture by law enforcement agencies of Tajikistan. [Read more]
