Memorial Considers Maxim Kalinichenko a Political Prisoner

Maxim Kalinichenko, born in 1977, is one of the organizers of the "Russian jogging" public movement in St. Petersburg, and also an opposition activist. Accused under Art. 33, Part 2 of Art. 318 of the Russian Criminal Code (incitement to violence against a representative of government, dangerous to life or health), he has been detained since December 2011. Kalinichenko is accused of shouting "Hit the cops!" during his arrest on December 10, 2011 at a time when the riot police, who followed the movement of participants of "For Fair Elections" action between the two platforms, was attacked by unidentified hooligans.
