Dagestan: Man Detained in Special Operation in Makhachkala Has Been Released

The Human Rights Center “Memorial” has learned that on May 21, 2012, Abdurakhman Magomedov, who was detained on May 19 during a special operation in Makhachkala, was released from the Kirovsky police department in the Republic of Dagestan. From the very beginning, Magomedov assured security officials that he had not been involved in a terrorist act. He went to the house that they had blockaded, suspecting it of hiding members of a gang, in order to congratulate the owners on the birth of their child. The criminal case against him was not opened, and thus the law enforcement agencies recognized his complete innocence.
