Memorial Submits Materials to Investigative Committee on Crimes Committed by Law Enforcement Officers

Yesterday, on May 3, 2012, the Human Rights Center “Memorial” sent the Chairman of the Investigative Committee of Russia, A.I. Bastrykin,
materials it has collected on crimes committed by law enforcement officers (http://www.memo.ru/uploads/files/742.doc).

In the accompanying letter, the Head of the Board of HRC “Memorial”, Oleg Orlov, requested to “check the legality and validity of the decisions taken during the investigation” of these cases, to “take all legal measures to ensure that the investigation into these cases is objective, comprehensive and completed within a reasonable time,” and also to “put the investigation of these cases under special control.” [Read more]
