Suspected Terrorist Arrested in Grozny - Her Relatives Say She Was Going to Enter Madrasah

According to mass media, on June 27, 2012 a resident of Nalchik, Kabardino-Balkaria, 19-year-old Asya Valerievna Tekhazheva was arrested in the town of Grozny, Chechen Republic. It's said on the web-site of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of the Russian Federation in the Chechen Republic that the girl, recruited by one of extremist units, was going to Dagestan intending to carry out a terrorist act. The police withdrew extremist literature from her and a suicide note addressed to the relatives.

Meanwhile, a relative of Tekhazheva, Kabardino-Balkaria resident, Karina Sokurova applied to the Human Rights Center /Memorial/. She wrote that
relatives got information about the arrest of Asya from mass media and from unofficial sources. No one has informed them about the arrest and
whereabouts of Tekhazheva so far. Relatives fear that she might be tortured. [Read more]
